Quick Lime ; Calcination or calcining is a thermal treatment process to bring about a thermal decomposition. The process takes place below the melting point of the product. The name calcination is derived from the Latin word ‘Calcinare’ which mean to burn lime. CaCO3→heatCaO+CO2(Limestone)→(Lime)+(Carbondioxide)CaCO3→heat⁡CaO+CO2(Limestone)→(Lime)+(Carbondioxide) The lime which is obtained by the calcination of comparatively pure limestone is known as quick lime or caustic lime. It's chemical composition is (CaO) oxide of calcium and it has great affinity for moisture. The quick lime as it comes out from kiln is also known as lump limes.
